The Objectives
The solution envisioned by 6G-REFERENCE consists of ultra-dense cell-free deployments for
joint coherent communications and sensing at cm-waves, which balance the benefits of
sub-6GHz (reduced pathloss) and mm-wave (wide bandwidth) ranges.
The 6G-REFERENCE Objectives
INNOVATE
To have innovations for transceiver
cm-wave Radio Frequency (RF)
hardware addressing the data
capacity and scheduling challenge
of D-MIMO.
CREATE
To create novel solutions for
accurate over the air frequency,
phase and time synchronization.
This would not only support
high-capacity data rate
communication, but may also enable
high-resolution UTC distribution and
accurate positioning and sensing.
PROVIDE
To provide new RF and antenna
components to extend spatial and
frequency domain selective
capabilities at reduced complexity,
cost, and energy consumption.
OFFER
To offer hardware solutions with low
complexity, low cost, and low power
consumption.
IMPLEMENT
To implement coexistence with
existing services in the 10-15GHz
range, which is targeted since it not
only provides new spectrum
opportunities but also efficiently
balances the benefits and
drawbacks of sub-6GHz and
mm-wave solutions.
MAXIMISE
To maximize project impact through dissemination, communication and support to the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking SNS JU. This will allow us to transfer knowledge of the project and its results, ensuring that our research and validation findings are accessible and used by the European 6G and Microelectronics Ecosystems, contributing to the future rollout of 6G.
