6G-REFERENCE was recently presented in Brazil as part of two events bringing together researchers, academics, students and industry representatives in Pernambuco. The Project Coordinator Ignacio Llamas, Senior Researcher at the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC), was invited to deliver two presentations entitled “The 6G-REFERENCE Project” at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) and at the Simpósio Brasileiro de Micro-Ondas e Optoeletrônica 2026 (SBMO) in Gravatá.
These two dissemination activities provided an opportunity to present the 6G-REFERENCE vision, objectives and progress to the Brazilian 6G research and innovation community.
Seminar at the Federal University of Pernambuco
On 28 August, Ignacio Llamas delivered a seminar at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), from 10:00 to 11:00, at the Auditorium of the Department of Geosciences. The event was attended by 48 participants, primarily postgraduate students and faculty members.
The seminar introduced the 6G-REFERENCE project and provided an overview of its consortium, including the roles of its partners, as well as its main objectives and its achievements so far. Particular emphasis was placed on the project’s activities and their contribution to the development of future 6G wireless communications.
Plenary Talk at SBMO 2026
A second presentation took place on 2 September, when Ignacio Llamas delivered a plenary talk at the Simpósio Brasileiro de Micro-Ondas e Optoeletrônica 2026 (SBMO) in Gravatá, Pernambuco, from 11:00 to 12:00. The plenary session attracted 140 participants, including academics, industry professionals and students.
Reflecting on the impact of these presentations for the 6G-REFERENCE project, our coordinator highlighted:
“The dissemination of the 6G-REFERENCE project activities and results raised a lot of interest, especially among young postgraduate students and industrial engineers from Rohde & Schwarz.” – Ignacio Llamas, 6G-REFERENCE Coordinator from CTTC.
Together, the two presentations provided an excellent platform for disseminating the 6G-REFERENCE project internationally and engaging with the Brazilian 6G research and industrial community.
