The 6G-REFERENCE Consortium Gathers in Enschede in our Third Meeting to Discuss our Half-Way Report Status and Demo Definitions

The 6G-REFERENCE partners landed in Enschede, the Netherlands, on the 28th and 29th of April to gather in our third face-to-face meeting, organized in this occasion by our Technical Manager, Eric Klumperink, Associate Professor at the University of Twente, to review the 6G-REFERENCE project status of our half-way reports and demo definitions.

During our discussions the first day, we focused on our antenna design, physical sensing, and initial IC design, to then move to the individual demo status, and system design and signal processing. In the afternoon, after reviewing the status of our 6G-REFERENCE reports and deliverables, we split the partners in three different groups to brainstorm on potential joint demos:

  • Communication
  • Sensing
  • Synchronization

The next day, we spoke about the communication and dissemination activities of our project in a session led by Antonis Sapountzis, Project Manager at AUSTRALO. Then, our partner Stefan Andersson from Ericsson guided the discussion about our impact, exploitation and standardization plans for the upcoming months. The rest of the agenda focused on more technical aspects of 6G-REFERENCE, such as the 3D antenna array, full duplex and spatial SIC.

We had a very busy and productive consortium meeting organized by University of Twente, and attended by our coordinator and all our partners: Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC), CEA-Leti, imec, ETH Zürich, University of Birmingham, Ericsson, Anteral, AUSTRALO, and ACP Advanced Circuit Pursuit AG.

The first time we met in Castelldefels, and the second, in Zürich, to discuss the 6G-REFERENCE research objectives and review the project status. Our next gathering will be at the EuCNC & 6G Summit 2025, celebrated from the 3rd to the 6th of June in Poznań, Poland.
