On the 14th of April 2026, the 6G-REFERENCE consortium gathered in Pamplona (Spain). Hosted by Alejandro Astibia and Javier Jiménez at Anteral facilities, the meeting focused on reviewing the project’s progress and defining the next steps to develop innovative hardware solutions for future 6G systems through three demonstration cases.
This is the fifth in-person meeting of the consortium, bringing together partners from across eight European countries, coordinated by Centre Tecnològic de Telecommunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC). The project kicked-off in Castelldefels (Spain), and met in Zurich (Switzerland), Enschede (The Netherlands), and Birmingham (United Kingdom).
The 6G-REFERENCE Status
The full-day agenda covered a detailed project status review focused on the state of the art of the different technical aspects addressed by 6G-REFERENCE. Partners discussed spanned antenna design, integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), radio-frequency (RF) components, synchronisation techniques, and system-level integration.
One of the main objectives of this meeting was to align ongoing work across technical work packages as well as to plan and coordinate future milestones and upcoming project activities, especially those related to the demo cases, as 6G-REFERENCE enters its final phase.
The 6G-REFERENCE Demonstration Cases
A central theme of the agenda was the advancement of the project’s demonstration cases, which are key to validating 6G-REFERENCE technologies in real-life.
Three demos are being developed on Communications, ISAC and Synchronisation test cases in factory-hall and urban-square scenarios:
- Low latency Communications leveraging Full Duplex (COM)
- Integrated Sensing and Communication: Passive vs Active Sensing (ISAC)
- Over-the-Air accurate Frequency and Time Synchronisation (SYNC)
The 6G-REFERENCE demos aim at Technology Readiness Level 4 (TRL4), enabling systems providing communication services to workers and “intelligent industrial agents”, such as automated cranes, machines, robots and vehicles with low latency and more data capacity due to full duplex hardware capabilities.
Meeting Hosted by Anteral
The meeting was hosted by Anteral, a key 6G-REFERENCE partner specialising in antennas, RF components, and radar technologies for telecommunications and other advanced applications.
In addition to the technical programme, the meeting included a networking dinner in the city centre of Pamplona. These informal moments reinforce collaboration, enabling partners to exchange ideas in a more relaxed environment.
Thank you to the Anteral team involved for marking this meeting possible!
